The
virtual reality, an effective therapy against the anxiety of the
patient
A study you
present/display before the American for Society Reproductive Medicine
reveals that the virtual reality can constitute an effective
processing against angusta and the ansidedad that is accustomed to
suffers the women during the pursuit of a procedure of fertilization
in vitro.
In a group of 93 sterile women submissive sessions of virtual reality
during a FIV processing, more of the 80 percent it saw alleviated to
its anxiety thanks to the sounds and the views of this special
reality. The 40 percent responded in addition that this particular
therapy distracted to them of the intervention which they were
receiving.
The FIV usually is made with local anesthesia, and can get to be
painful and to produce anxiety in the patient.
" We wanted to remove to the patient mentally from the operating
room ", indicates doctor Steven F. Palter, author of the study.
In Scandinavia one has resorted to acupuncture to reach this same
objective, also successfully, according to Palter, that adds that many
women are obstinate to this type of processing.
Palter and its colleagues decided to resort to an approach less
intimidatory than acupuncture. Their patients saw through apparatuses
of virtual reality subterraneas waters, beaches, and listened to
classic music. All the women were satisfied after this trip by the
virtual reality, and some of them requested to repeat it after
concluding the processing.
The virtual reality can be useful in any type of surgical operations,
indicates Palter, that now glides to apply the technique in men who
are put under a vasectomy.
